Cracked magazine has sent me here for an exclusive interview with the indie sensation herself, Beth Mann, who is bringing out her new album "Return of the Fonz". We will be discovering what the ups and down of bringing a new album out, and also getting a little bit closer to the artist herself.
Q - Firstly we would like to ask you Beth, how do you think you have got to where you are today, and also who has inspired you to do it?
A - Well, it started out when i was about 8 years old when i got my first guitar for my 8th birthday, i didn't like the guitar too much at the time and it wasn't one of my presents that i really appreciated, but then after a few weeks it had been sat there and i hadn't played it so i thought it was about time i picked it up. From then on i had lessons but mostly learned at home playing my own songs. By the age of about 15 i had been spotted by Domino Records over myspace where i uploaded most of my music, this was a big step for me because now at the age of 17 i have my first album on sale in shops that i used to buy music from.
There were many things that inspired me, bands, artists, people, but i could go on forever with those, i think the main thing that has inspired me was my family who have fully supported me and what i play.
Q - You say that there are bands that have inspired you, which one has the most and why?
A - Well, if i'm honest there are far too many but if i was to choose one it would be "Biffy Clyro". This is because i like the way they play their music, they are laid back and sound like they are having fun whilst playing, I listened to them a lot when i was making my album and i think it shows through in some of my music.
Q - Are you ready for the big stage at leeds festival 2011?
A - Yeah i'm ready, but i am obviously nervous as its like every artists dream to play at the big festivals and concerts but leeds is a step above all that because not only do i play to all my fans but i get to play with some of my own favourite artists.
Q - Is there a specific audience you think that you appeal to?
A - Thats a tough question because i feel like i want to appeal to everyone that i can, because feel like my music is quite varied on my new album. But i think i come across as quite indie which i love because if thats why i have so many fans then i want to play that kind of music to keep them happy and also to keep me playing what i love to play.
Q - Finally, this is a question from one of your fans that we have specifically chosen, "Hi Beth, my name is Daniel, i was hoping that you could tell me if you are playing any gigs near my hometown of Sedgefield?
A - Well Daniel, i didn't want to be giving much away because i may be playing at the Evolution Festival at newcastle, so i hope to see you there!
So, there we have it we have been inside the head of a talented young star, but now, where will she go next? She will be playing at gigs and festivals all this year so keep a big look out for this one because she is an absolutely Phenomenal talent!
